He was so responsive in helping us understand the process or when we needed changes based on our contracts. In one week, I think we had over 15 requests and they answered all our questions within minutes and was always positive and helpful.
The rate we got for our mortgage was better than any other lender or bank offered. People are still surprised when they hear what rate we got. You will not be disappointed with Max and team. They really made this whole experience awesome.
My husband and I worked with Max on buying our first home, after 2 completely separate parties recommended Max to us.

Long story short, he is awesome — nothing phased him, he worked with us on our out-of-the-ordinary income situation, was happy to meet with us in person whenever we had questions, and got back to us promptly on everything. This was my first time buying a house so I had countless questions on mortgages. Max and his team was (and still is) great about getting back to me with answers whether it’s via phone, email, or text. When I first emailed Max, he was out of town for a conference, but was still able to give me a call the same day to answer questions and set up an appointment. When I met Max, I didn’t feel pressured to commit to anything. He’s very personable; the kind of guy that makes you feel like you’ve been good buddies for quite some time.
During the time I was shopping the mortgage market, Max would give me daily updates on the rates without me asking for them. After I had “locked in” on a rate, I was still able to use the float-down option to secure an even lower rate. The days leading up to and including my closing were painless and stress free. He and his team were very efficient and kept me updated on their progress along the way. Max even planned on attending my closing, but had to cancel at the last minute due an injury.
It’s now been a little over a month since my closing and I recently had some general mortgage questions for which Max was kind enough to take the time and answer for me. I was a bit skeptical at first when I searched for a lender on Yelp, but looking back on it I’m glad and I did and would recommend Max and his team to anyone in search for a mortgage lender.
My wife and I bought our first home in Austin and The Leaman team was recommended to us by a friend whom is a real estate investor.

My loan “funded” the first week of February 2013. They were actually ready to sign and fund the last week of January, but I was traveling that week. The entire process was handled professionaly and promptly via phone and secure emails. A notary was sent to my home at a time of my choosing to sign final documents. That was definitely the smoothest house finance/refinance experience I’ve ever had and recommend them to others without reservation. Thank you Max Leaman, Jori Stern, and Brittanie Graswich.
Do: Promptly respond to their requests for documents so that you can fund as quickly as possible.
Don’t: Stress about it. There’s a lot of paperwork, but they’ll work with you at your pace to get it all done.
Max Leaman and his team were great and I am thankful I used them.

Closed on time & overall it was a great experience. Max is a funny guy and was nice to work with on this investment purchase. I found him online through an article he had about investment property lending and he was much more informed on the process of investor lending for SFR than any of the other 4 or 5 folks I’d spoken to prior to him! We’ll be using him soon to close on many more investment homes!
I have used them twice to re-finance my house, both times the process was easy and fast.

I have several times asked for info on rates and fees when considering buying another place and they always send me the info within an hour!!

I spent a year looking for the right house. During that year I sent lots of emails with questions and they were always helpful and willing to make sure I had what I needed. Once we found a home to buy, the closing date was a short timeframe but they got everything done very quickly and met the deadline. The best part about everyone at Max Leaman is the customer service and response times. Whenever I called, the phone was answered immediately — I don’t think I ever had to leave a voice mail. And emails were always responded to very timely. I don’t plan on needing another mortgage soon but if I do I wouldn’t call anyone other than Jori Stearn and the Max Leaman team.
