Downtown Austin 4th of July Fireworks

Due to drought conditions, the City of Austin has canceled all firework shows in Travis county. Currently, the Austin Symphony Orchestra has no official events scheduled, but the Symphony is currently deciding their plan of action. The Austin Symphony Orchestra will publicly state their plans for July 4, 2011 in the next few days. (This entry posted 6/14/2011.)
June 14, 2011 - The city of New Braunfels announced this morning they will support the fireworks ban due to severe drought conditions.

City of Round Rock's July 4 Frontier Days Celebration

FIREWORKS TIME: Due to drought, fireworks have been rescheduled to the annual Christmas Family Night on Dec. 9.

"Drought conditions in our area have forced us to reschedule the fireworks portion of our celebration, but we're not going to let this hamper our traditional celebration here in Round Rock," said Rick Atkins, City of Round Rock Parks and Recreation Director. "We'll move ahead in celebrating our nation's freedom with a full day and night of Frontier Days entertainment and we hope our residents will come out and join us.
A parade, jalapeno pepper eating contest, children's games, Sam Bass Shootout, duck races, skydivers and movies are all part of the City of Round Rock's July 4 Frontier Days Celebration.
The day starts with the parade through downtown Round Rock at 10 a.m. followed by festivities all afternoon at Old Settlers Park. At the park, participate in the duck races, pony rides, inflatables and children's games, arts and crafts vendors, Ballet Folklorico dancers and a reenactment of the historical Sam Bass Shootout, free watermelon served by Round Rock City Council members, performance by the Austin Symphonic Band, immediately following the musical performance, Time Warner Cable will present "Movies in the Park" with showings of Iron Man 2 (Lakeview Pavilion) and Despicable Me (Rabb Ravilion)."

"Festivities will begin with a parade on Lakeway Drive from Live Oak Golf Course to the Lakeway Church. The Pageant at the Lakeway Activity Center. Pageant of Flags - 10:30 AM - The Activity Center, located at 105 Cross Creek Road, will host the Pageant of Flags featuring music and patriotic speeches. Grand Marshal Charles Edwards will be honored. 12 Noon - The Swim Center, located at 3103 Lakeway Blvd., will open for fun until 6 PM. Admittance is $3 all day. 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. - Old Fashioned Block Party at **Swim Center Park**, located adjacent to the Swim Center at 3103 Lakeway Blvd featuring the band Duck Soup. Come out and dance under the music tent! Big fun for the whole family! Food, BYOB (beer & blanket), lasertag, inflatables and carnival rides for the kids! Enjoy the evening! Happy 4th of July! Due to severe drought conditions, there will be no fireworks this year. Free parking available at Serene Hills Elementary School and on neighboring streets
